On March 30, containers loaded with towels, socks and other daily necessities were lifted directly from the Chinese side to vehicles in Kazakhstan through a crane in front of the gate of the Dulata port, and customs clearance was successfully completed. This is the official resumption of the opening of the Durata port since the suspension of cargo transportation for nearly two years in April 2020.

On the same day, two containers totaling 32 tons of goods were exported at the Dulata port. The government of Yili Prefecture attaches great importance to the reopening of the port.

Durata Port is located at the westernmost end of Chabuchal Xibe Autonomous County, 53 kilometers east of Chabuchal County, 64 kilometers away from Yining City, and adjacent to Chunjia District of Almaty State of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the west. It is a first-class land port of the country and has always been an important channel for non-governmental trade and cultural exchanges in the west.

In 2019, the port realized import and export cargo volume of 368000 tons, an increase of 34 percent over the same period last year; import and export trade volume reached 25.27 billion yuan, an increase of 57.9 percent over the same period last year; 28000 entry and exit vehicles (times), an increase of 40 percent over the same period last year; and 34000 entry and exit personnel (times), an increase of 45 percent over the same period last year. Export goods are mainly daily department stores, mechanical and electrical products, auto parts, clothing, shoes and hats and other goods.

As the enterprises gradually return to work and production, the demand for import and export of all kinds of materials gradually increases. After consultation between China and Kazakhstan, the Dulata Port was reopened on March 30. The port management committee and customs, border inspection and other departments, based on their own duties, do a good job in the customs inspection, prevention, control and inspection of goods. They each fulfill their responsibilities and take the initiative to ensure the safety and efficiency of goods clearance at highway ports.
